USES Augmentin is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic only treats bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections.
HOW TO TAKE Shake the bottle well before each dose. Take augmentin by mouth with a meal or snack, usually every 8 or 12 hours. Take this drug at evenly spaced intervals.
SIDE EFFECTS Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, temporary staining of the teeth, easy bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat or fever, dark urine, stomach/abdominal pain, yellowing eyes or skin, severe intestinal condition , blood/mucus in your stool, oral thrush, vaginal yeast infection, a change in vaginal discharge, rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
PRECAUTIONS Before taking augmentin it is higly crucial of you to inform your doctor of yours and your family medical history in detail and of any other recent or current medication treatment. The elderly may be more sensitive to its side effects. Augmentin should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Caution is advised if this medication is given before delivery for a certain condition (premature rupture of fetal membranes) due to a possible increased risk of harm to the newborn. Breast-feeding is not recommended. Do not stop, restart or change treatment without informing your doctor. Do not use augmentin for another infection. Medical tests may be performed from time to time to monitor your progress or check for side effects.
OVERDOSE If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call the US national poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222. Canadian residents should call their local poison control center directly.
MISSED DOSE If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
STORAGE Refrigerate the suspension and discard any unused portion after 10 days. Keep away from children and pets.
