USES Caduet works by blocking calcium which relaxes and widens the blood vessels. It is used to treat high blood pressure or chest pain (angina). Caduet is used along with a proper diet to help lower cholesterol and fats in the blood. Caduet is used in adults and children (10 years of age and older). Girls must have had their first menstrual period before treatment can start.
HOW TO TAKE Take caduet by mouth usually once daily (it is recommended to take caduet during the evening) with or without food. Dosage is based on your medical condition, response to therapy, and use of certain interacting medicines. If you use other drugs to lower your cholesterol, take caduet at least 2 hours after them. It may take up to 4 weeks for the full benefits of caduet to take effect.
SIDE EFFECTS Headache, dizziness, drowsiness, flushing, diarrhea, stomach/abdominal pain, weakness, joint pain, muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness , irregular heartbeat, swelling of the hands or feet, worsening chest pain, yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, persistent nausea, change in the amount of urine, rash, itching, severe swelling, trouble breathing.
PRECAUTIONS Before taking Caduet it is higly crucial of you to inform your doctor of yours and your family medical history in detail and of any other recent or current medication treatment. Limit alcoholic beverages. Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice. Use caution while committing an activity that requires clear vision and alertness. The elderly may be more sensitive to its side effects. Caduet must not be used during pregnancy. If you become pregnant or suspect pregnancy, inform your doctor immediately. Caduet may cause harm to an unborn baby. Breast-feeding is not recommended. Do not stop, restart or change treatment without informing your doctor. Medical tests may be performed from time to time to monitor your progress or check for side effects. Have your blood pressure checked regularly.
OVERDOSE If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call the US national poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222. Canadian residents should call their local poison control center directly.
MISSED DOSE If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
STORAGE Store caduet at room temperature at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Brief storage between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) is permitted. Keep away from children and pets.
