USES Zyban is used in combination with a stop-smoking program to help you quit smoking. Zyban decreases your nicotine withdrawal symptoms and your urge to smoke. Zyban may also be used to treat other mental/mood disorders such as depression and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
HOW TO TAKE Take zyban by mouth, usually twice daily with or without food, at evenly spaced intervals of least 8 hours. Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. Zyban may be combined with nicotine patches or gum.
SIDE EFFECTS Dry mouth, trouble sleeping, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, constipation, blurred vision, increased sweating, strange taste in mouth, stomach pain, chest pain, fainting, irregular heartbeat, mental/mood changes, muscle aches, ringing in the ears, severe headache, uncontrolled movements, weight loss or gain, change in the amount of urine, seizures, rash, itching, swelling.
PRECAUTIONS Before using zyban consult it is higly crucial of you to inform your doctor of yours and your family medical/mental history in detail and of any other recent or current medication treatment. Use caution while committing an activity that requires clear vision and alertness. Limit alcoholic beverages. The elderly may be more sensitive to its side effects. Zyban should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Zyban passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Breast-feeding is not recommended. Do not stop, restart or change treatment without informing your doctor. Medical tests may be performed from time to time to monitor your progress or check for side effects.
OVERDOSE If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call the US national poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222. Canadian residents should call their local poison control center directly.
MISSED DOSE If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
STORAGE Store Zyban (US product) at room temperature between 68-77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Store the Canadian product at room temperature between 59-77 degrees F (15-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Keep away from children and pets.
